What the . . . ?
I think Spitzer and Hillary are right on the issue of driver's licenses for illegals. But it may be the first mistake in Hillary's campaign. Not fatal, a flesh wound, but interesting.
In all it was not Hillary's best night. Barack failed to help himself as much as he might have, because after all the pre-debate hype about how he was going to put a big hurt on Hill, he ended up losing the "bitch-slap" contest to John Edwards.
Edwards is irrelevant because, for whatever reason, voters simply don't buy him. He can levitate and cure lepers and it won't matter. Obama is the non-Hillary, not Edwards, but Obama didn't personally rough up the Borg Queen, he left the job to Edwards.
My take? Edwards did very well -- and it doesn't matter. Obama didn't live up to his own hype, but he was helped marginally by John Edwards. Hillary took a beating, but is still standing. I'll do the crazy thing and actually try to predict the polls. I'll say the polls in Iowa and NH move two points from Hillary to Obama, with Edwards static.

Guilty as charged. If he did those things, I wouldn't vote for him. But that would make him an interesting Veep.

I think the "whatever reason" is that you're only allowed to be a fresh-face, alternative-to-the-establishment candidate once. After that, you have to be... the establishment. Have some experience and add a line or two to the résumé. Edwards, because he has done nothing but campaign for the past four years, is now in neither camp.
