Nut In New Hampshire.

Some wackjob has taken hostages at a small Clinton campaign office in New Hampshire. Cops are saying he's a middle-aged white male, salt-and-pepper hair, and a history of emotional problems. Hopefully this goes away peacefully.

Apropos of nothing, has anyone seen Mike Gravel around?

I'm glad to see that they're okay and the whacko surrendered peacefully. Supporting Hillary may not be the best idea, but it's certainly not deserving of that.

Of course, Senator Clinton's able press conference has garnered lots of attention. Michael van der Galien thought she did well (http://mvdg.wordpress.com/2007/12/01/hillary-sounding-presidential/) while Captain Ed and Rick Moran (predictably) weren't much impressed.

To be sure, she wasn’t Rudy on 9/11. But she was engaged. Prior to Katrina, I would’ve said that being engaged was no big deal. But after watching GWB's out-of-touch nonperformance in Katrina, I no longer feel that way. I no longer take basic competence for granted.

The sad thing is that the performance bar has been lowered to this degree. Because at some rudimentary level, a capable pol should be able to do what Clinton did in his sleep. But her performance becomes dazzling by Katrina standards. And it wasn’t just Pres. Bush- let’s not forget Gov. Blanco either. Hillary's performance shines in comparison.
