I'm disappointed that he didn't use the speech you wrote for him, Michael. Well, not really, but he could have been a little blunter about Wright--what he actually said was coy and stilted. But like Amba, I liked some of the things he had to say on race, and was not impressed by Democratic boilerplate.
I was cynical about the speech earlier today, but I retract that sentiment now that I've read it carefully. Well, mostly, for reasons similar to those Chris describes.
Cal's post was good one. The speech works for those who heard or read the whole thing. Whether or not it works for the 90%(?) who did neither is another matter. Time will tell.
As for the contribution, Michael: Good for you. Hope it made you feel better. Hope it was the maximum, because otherwise they are going to spend ALL of it trying to get you to give more.

You might want to check out Cal's post on the speech, if you've not already seen it.
